Community Solar

Community solar involves installing large solar arrays with battery storage directly within communities, rather than relying on remote solar farms. Beyond supplying clean energy, this approach uses existing urban spaces—such as warehouse rooftops and other large sites—instead of developing undeveloped or desert land. Locating generation within city limits reduces transmission costs, minimizes exposure to natural-disaster disruptions, and ensures battery reserves are available during blackouts or peak demand. A core goal of community solar is to deliver lower-cost energy to renters and lower-income residents.
